Rufflet’s Country House & Hotel - Bridal Shoot

So to tie in with the launch of our 2012 website and new look here’s a post about a wedding related shoot from last week, that’s right, we do weddings and we have loads of new pictures on the site and here on the blog. We’ve also refined and updated all our package prices (including weddings) to make your day even more special. If you are looking for a friendly young couple to photograph your wedding in Dundee, Angus or Central Scotland this year or next come and say hello.

What a wonderful bunch of models and day spent shooting at the beautiful Rufflets Country House Hotel in St Andrews. Sadly the weather was extremely dull so the majority of the shoot took place inside the Hotel, we missed out on that lovely bridge over the burn and gardens but maybe next time. Rufflets couldn’t have been more accommodating, a perfect venue for a perfect wedding.

Models for the day were Tony, Seonaid, Hayley, Ferrol and Hazel. Hairstylist was Carrie Buchanan and Makeup Artist was Kirsty Miller. Dresses supplied by Diane Lynn Bridal Dundee.

Sarah Nov 3

We’re all very happy with this set, was a joy to do. The dress, the setting and of course sarah are all lovely. Shot at Crombie Country Park we certainly got a few strange looks from passers by but who cares with results like these. Thanks to Gilly and Sarah for a very productive shoot day.

Set shot with… Canon 5d Mark II // Canon 35mm 1.4L // Canon 85mm 1.2L // Canon 135mm 2.0L // canon 430ex flash in 28 inch softbox

Catriona Rennie Shoot 1 October 2011

Haven’t shot with Catriona for such a very long time, she was part of our second ever shoot a few years back and it was so good it inspired us and gave us the confidence to take on more shoots, was great to see her again and so chuffed she chose us to do her first shoot after having a baby. Started off simple then headed out for some autumn fun…oh so cold and wet… but worth it!

Barbara Dymock

Photoshoot for traditional scottish folk singer Barbara Dymock from Dundee. We shot this at an amazing house on Dundee Road overlooking the Tay. Thanks to Sarah for the makeup and first contact and Julie for the hair and venue. These shots are to be used on CD artwork and marketing material I believe and Barbara is delighted with the outcome… full set here

VIEW THE GALLERY IN IT’S ENTIRETY

Well after a long wait we’re finally able to show you a selection of images from our BREO product photoshoots, to view many more of the shots go check out the gallery in detail. (this is still no where near the amount that were chosen in the end)

This was a BIG learning curve for us and extremely time consuming, shoots were split up over a few months, well worth it though, we think we’ve achieved some great results working alongside Breo. Much of these shots are already being used in their marketing material, just noticed one the other day in the inflight magazine while flying Ryanair…nice!

Thanks to Keith and the team at Breo for this opportunity, we hope to continue this line of work.

In other news we’re in the process of creating a new home photography/design studio in our new house in carnoustie which should be completed over the coming months ready for more shoots.

Sarah 14/04/11

Great great great shoot with Sarah Robertson - haven’t seen her in so long, she hadn’t modelled for a while but it took her no time at all to get back in the swing despite the freezing temperatures. Assisted as usual by Gilly who does a wonderful job of blethering and choosing outfits. These were shot around the Verdant Works area of Dundee, I like the strong use of colour and abstract shapes the area provided. View the whole set.

Equipment: Canon 35mm 1.4L // Canon 85mm 1.2L // canon 430ex // umbrella // elinchrom skyports

Elaine Shoot 2 - 27/02/11

Worth waiting for? I’m pretty stoked about this shoot. The 85L is hard to get to grips with, quite a few images not as sharp as i’d wish but the creamy backgrounds and general look and colour of the images are more than worth it. Again all shot with just one light setup.

Check out the whole shoot over in our photo diary and come say hi on facebook.

Breo Photoshoot

Photoshoot for BREO

What an amazing, stressful, fun and awesome day this shoot was and the next couple of days were even better…

We had this shoot planned for a while after a successful product shoot for the company a while back, took alot of organisation but all came together in the end.

Models for the day were Elaine Ford from Stirling, Cherryspikes from Edinburgh and Chris Williamson from Newcastle. The makeup artist was Kirsty Miller and from Breo were Lesley and Keith.

Sooooo many watches and headphones, some of them are very very cool! The shoot itself was fast and furious as we had alot to fit in, tried to keep the lighting fairly simple opting for a beauty dish and octabox and had fun with some coloured gels later on. Kirsty did some amazing work with the makeup and helped out with outfits n stuff, everyone worked super hard and hope the outcome was worth it. For me these are some of my favourite ever shots and hope to continue this line of work. To view the whole set check our our photo diary page.

So… the shoot came to an end, tidied up, fish supper came and gone and we got to bed, awoke around 1am with gills waters breaking 4 weeks early, what!!?? Panic stations!!

Off to hospital, stayed the night, no baby, went the whole of the following day and no baby, gilly was told to go home and even go to her final year exam but baby had other ideas, contractions eventually started and at 4pm on the 21st sep 2010 along came Jack Taylor James Campbell, our first son! BEST DAY EVER!

location: Home Studio, Dundee // canon 5d Mark II / canon 24-70L / Elinchrom skyports / Elinchrom D-lites 2 / 5’ Octabox / Beauty Dish

Maz got in touch recently through Model Mayhem, she’s really funny if a little crazy :) i felt bad cause it took her around 3 hours to get from Ayr to Dundee on the megabus with bags full of props and clothes… she soon perked up though and was great to work with. First attempt at lighting using a ringflash (a cheapy ebay one at that). I Found it pretty difficult and not my usual style but some good results in the end. She sure enjoys drumstick lollies and the whole Dennis the Menace thing looked great.

The second shoot with Maz with just the coolest german officers cap she brought along, apparently found in a skip in germany. Shot with just one light, 430ex in 28 inch softbox. Much darker than the first set but in my opinion more successful and definitely a style I would like to pursue further.

Just to say we are always taking bookings for shoots whether TF or paid so please get in touch and we would be happy to talk over your ideas.
